S10E1 - The Inner Architecture of Single Motherhood by Choice

How can I build self-trust when I’m scared of making the wrong choice about solo motherhood?

Have you ever gathered all the research, built the spreadsheets, and planned every logistical detail of your solo motherhood journey, only to find that certainty still isn’t available and you still can’t sleep?

This is the first episode of Season 10, and I’m sharing where the show is headed and why. I reflect on how my perspective has evolved over six years of podcasting and coaching, and why I’ve shifted more of my focus from the external logistics to the inner work of self-trust.

I share my personal fertility story from my kitchen table in 2020, and why chasing certainty feels like playing an endless game of Whack-a-Mole.

This episode is about shifting our focus from controlling external circumstances and outcomes to building the internal capacity to hold all of our emotions, even the hard ones. I share how working with coaches Lindsey Marie and Kate Northrup gave me language for the distinction between outer architecture and inner architecture.

In this episode, I discuss:

  • Balancing external logistics (donors, clinics, budgets) with internal self-trust and nervous system capacity.

  • Recognizing how chasing outer control keeps us small, and shifting focus back to our own resilience.

  • Releasing the "beach ball" of resisted emotions to safely hold all feelings without avoidance.

  • Applying capacity building to pre-parenting doubts, donor conception conversations, and daily parenting moments.

Wherever you are on this path, I hope this episode leaves you feeling a little steadier and a lot less alone.
